Perham FFA Wildlife Team advances to state convention
The Perham FFA chapter traveled to the University of Minnesota in Crookston Jan. 31 to participate in Region 1 FFA Career Development events.
Perham’s Wildlife Team had an outstanding finish of third place, and will be advancing to the Minnesota FFA Convention at the end of April.
The Wildlife Career Development event encompasses the areas of bird, mammal, rodent, and insect identification; a written test; and a practicum about whitetail deer diseases.
Levi Swyter and William Vana also placed as individuals, with sixth and 11th place finishes, respectively.
Another Perham FFA team to compete was the Floriculture Team, which finished fifth.
Callista Wengel and Jenna Wegscheid brought home individual honors with their eighth and 12th place finishes, respectively.
The Dairy Foods team also competed, placing fifth.
The national FFA organization provides leadership, personal growth, and career success training through agricultural education to 557,318 student members who belong to one of nearly 7,500 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
