Perham freshmen shutout DL 8-0
The Perham freshman football team earned an 8-0 win Monday against Detroit Lakes.
Perham scored early by moving the ball through the air. A big pass from Mason Malikowski to William Parks set up a TD pass from Malikowski to Colin Neitzke. Patrick Glynn ran in the 2-point conversion.
Later in the first half, the Jackets converted a fake punt on 4th and 1, as Malikowski took the direct snap and pitched it to Sam Muer, who ran ahead for the first down.
Eight points was all Perham would need, as Detroit Lakes never saw the Perham red zone. The Jackets special teams also had a nice day as Ryan DeConcini returned a punt for 20-plus yards and the kickoff team held Detroit Lakes inside the 30 both times.
Muer, Perham's punter, had another great game, booming several punts over 35 yards in a tough wind.
The punt coverage team recovered one fumble and did not allow Detroit Lakes any punt returns.
Perham's defense was solid, forcing several three and outs, and did a great job containing a tough option attack.
