Perham girls remain undefeated

Email

Two weeks into the basketball season and the Perham girls have a formulaic process to each week: win two.

A 67-60 victory over Breckenridge and a 70-59 win at Crosby-Ironton have the Yellowjackets sitting with a record of 4-0, having played three of four games on the road.

"Crosby-Ironton never went away," Head Coach John Gullngsrud said. "We sent them to the free throw line too many times and gave them way too many second chance offensive rebounds."

The Rangers outrebounded Perham 38-26 and 18-10 on the offensive end.

"Rebounding is an area we are really focusing on this season and we still have big strides to make as a team to become better at it."

Kaylan Huber had a big night offensively scoring 16 points. Katrina Moenkedick led all scorers with her usual 20 points.

Steph Miller continued to make an impact even without scoring as much. Miller dealt out 12 assists and pick pocketed the Rangers for six steals.

Becky Stoll scored 10 points. Kelli Meehl had eight and led Perham, with Moenkedick on the glass, pulling down six rebounds each.

"This was another nice road win for us early in the season. The girls played a good first half as we hit some outside shots and created a few turnovers that got us some easy baskets and an early cushion in the game."

Perham is on the road traveling to West Central Area before returning home Friday night, Dec. 17 to take on Barnesville.
