PERHAM -- The Perham Harrier Half Marathon and 5k races will be held this Saturday, July 28.

"We have great sponsors and it is a great event to be apart of," Race Director Jeff Morris said.


Both races are USATF certified and organizers have made these races some of the most professionally run events in the area.

"We do a first class job," said Morris.

Both the half marathon and 5k courses are USATF certified and championship timing will be used for all participants

Water stops are provided every two miles.

Cash awards are given for the top three overall finishers in the half marathon.

Bananas, other fruit, water and Gatorade are available after the races with a lot of volunteers to assist runners.

"It's going to be a sweet event," said Morris.

2012 registration for the Perham Harrier Half Marathon must be received before Thursday, July 26, otherwise a late fee will be applied.

Half Marathon Fees

$35.00 for pre-registered runners; $45.00 for race-day registration.

5k Entry Entry Fees

$20.00 for pre-registered runners; $25.00 for race-day registration.

Pre-Registration and Packet Pickup

Packet Pick-up and Pre-Registration will be offered on Friday, July 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the Perham Area Community Center in Perham.

Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-up will take place starting at 5:45 a.m. and closing at 6:50 a.m.

Start Time

The Half Marathon starts at 7 a.m. The 5k begins at 7:15 a.m.

Time Limit

The time limit for completing the half marathon is four hours.

Any half marathoners finishing after four hours will not be scored as official finishers.

Entry Requirements

Participants must be at least seven-years-old on race day to register for the half marathon.


Per USATF rules, gun time is used to determine prize money winners and time bonus recipients.

Chip time is used to determine all age_group winners and other award recipients. Unofficial results will include gun and chip time.


Headphones are allowed for race participants.


Cash Awards to thet top 3 overall male and female finishers in half marathon only - 1st place - $100; 2nd place - $50; 3rd place - $25.

Age Group Awards to Top three male and female for each race: 13 and under; 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over.

Dry Release T-shirts for the half marathon and 5k participants are available at packet pickup.

All official half marathon participants receive a finisher medal.

Uncollected finisher items will not be mailed.

Race Day entries are not guaranteed a shirt. Shirts on race day will be given out on a first come first serve basis for those not pre-registered.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of extreme or unsafe conditions on race day, the Perham Harrier Half Marathon may be altered or canceled to ensure the safety of all participants and the community as a whole.


Start time temperature has averaged 60 F.

Finish time temperature has averaged 70 F.
