Perham man allegedly pulls gun on wife, then self
A 21-year-old Perham man has been charged with assault in the second degree with use of a dangerous weapon after allegedly pulling a gun on his wife, then pointing it at himself on Nov. 24.
According to Otter Tail County Court records, Jacob Siltala held a gun to his wife's head while questioning her about a male acquaintance. He then pointed the gun at himself before breaking his wife's cell phone, taking cash from her purse and leaving the residence, court records state. Records show Siltala later admitted to burning some clothing at their residence.
Siltala appeared in county court on Nov. 29 to face the felony charge. He also is facing lesser charges, one of them being damage to property.
Law enforcement later obtained Siltala's gun, a Hi-Point 45 caliber, as well as a magazine with seven rounds.
Siltala has a hearing scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10.
