Perham man sentenced to jail for meth
A Perham man is facing jail time after police pulled him over and found a bag of methamphetamine in his vehicle.
Kenneth James Vanysseldyk, 43, was pulled over for a traffic stop violation on 3rd Street in Perham on Aug. 18, according to Otter Tail County Court records. A small plastic bag with contents later identified as meth was found in the vehicle.
Vanysseldyk was sentenced Dec. 13 for felony charges of fifth degree drug possession, court records show. He was given 180 days in the county jail, with 118 days credited for time already served.
A sentence of 15 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud was stayed for 10 years. Vanysseldyk was ordered to pay court fines amounting to $795.
He will be subject to drug testing in future months and will be on probation for 10 years. Vanysseldyk was previously convicted of a controlled substance crime in Anoka County in 2006.
