Perham National Honor Society project
When the Perham High senior class National Honor Society members met to discuss possible community service projects, making pre-cooked meals for a family in the community was planned without any questions. Judy Swift, a mother of three girls from the Perham Community, suffered a stroke this past summer. The stroke left Swift unable to perform basic every day routines. Her slow recovery process has made preparing meals for her children challenging.
For the National Honor Society members, the situation stirred hearts since one of their classmates is Swift's daughter. When the final bell rang at Perham High last Wednesday several senior NHS members met in the home economics room to prepare basic meal elements. They put together two pans of lasagna, a pot of chili, and several pounds of barbeque meat. Kaity Young, president of NHS and Emily Zitzow, secretary of NHS, delivered the pre-cooked meal items personally to Swift and her daughters last Wednesday. It arrived in perfect timing with Swift arriving home from the hospital the day before.
The National Honor Society will be inducting their new members this fall. They also have a ditch-cleaning project planned, which will take place on October 2.
