Perham schools go to 4-day week summer schedule
The latest budget cutting act for the Perham-Dent schools was performed with a paring knife, not an axe--with summer hours reduced to four days a week.
The Monday to Thursday schedule was suggested by Superintendent Tamara Uselman at the May 21 school board session.
Actual savings from the short work week are uncertain, but Uselman said that her main focus was to reduce air conditioning and energy costs from Friday to Sunday.
The board agreed with the plan.
Hourly staff will not report for work on Fridays, though administrative staff will likely continue to work, as needed.
The summer cleaning crew will revert to four ten-hour days, Monday to Thursday, from about mid-June to mid-August, said Uselman.
