"History Day" is a state and national academic challenge that has been available to students in the Perham-Dent School District for 15 years. The program encourages students to choose a topic of interest correlate it with an annual theme, with this year's theme entitled "Innovations in History, Impact and Change." After doing historical research on their topics, students present evidence supporting their thesis in one of four categories (individually or in a group): exhibit, media, performance or research paper.

Area History Day teachers, who attended the state competition with their students for 2009-2010 school year, included Shelley Bunkowske, Perham; Tricia Hamann, Perham; Jason Boe, New York Mills; and Jen Trajden, Hawley.
