Area residents proved to be extremely generous in donating school supplies for needy students for the upcoming school year.
On August 3 Kinship, the Ottertail-Wadena Community Action Council, the United Way and the Salvation Army sponsored a "Stuff the Bus" event at Perham High School.
Members of the community donated hundreds of items that the students will need for the start of the 2010-2011 school year.
According to Jill Shipman of Kinship area residents donated cash and 1,206 pencils, 474 erasers, 192 glue sticks, 230 blue pens, 59 boxes of colored markets, 122 notebooks, 29 boxes of colored pencils and many other items.
"It was awesome for the first year," said Shipman.
