Perham tennis gets first victory
The streak ended on the home courts against Park Rapids. The Yellowjackets pulled out a 4-3 victory to notch their first win of the season.
"Our boys played outstanding tennis today," Head Coach Kyle Knutson said. "Coach Kosiak and I are very proud."
The Panthers almost came away with the victory by sweeping three of four singles matches in straight sets.
Junior Randy Swanson went the distance at three singles defeating Park Rapids sophomore Chris Shaw 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, as the difference maker--all because the three Perham doubles teams swept their matches.
Madison Paridon and Austin Andreen made quick work of their one-singles match over Matt Sullivan and Jeff Dickenson, 6-3, 6-1.
Mike Botzet and Al Schoeneberger took out Steve Osterman and Calvin Batemen with ease, 6-0 and 6-2.
Trevor Meece and Brian Howey sealed the victory for the Yellowjackets at three doubles in three sets.
"They are starting to play with a little aggression and determination," Knutson said. "We have been telling them all season they have potential to be beating some of the teams they have lost to so far and I think they are starting to listen and understand what they could be doing. This will help us gain some more confidence going into the conference tournament Thursday."
