Perham won by over 2.5 points in front of perennial rivals Detroit Lakes 141.95 - 139.35.

The two teams finished in the same places last season with Perham outscoring DL 137-136.35.

The win is the fourth straight Jackie Mann title for the Yellowjackets.

The meet was down to four participating teams and held in Hauer Gymnasium at Perham High School. Cambridge-Isanti finished third (133.9), followed by Moorhead (126.6).

St. Cloud Apollo canceled last minute.

Last year’s meet featured eight teams in its typical location at Prairie Wind Middle School.

Molly Lyngaas, of Detroit Lakes, scored 35.7 for the all-around title edging out Perham’s Jordan Martinson (35.55).

Last season, Martinson finished eighth.

Martinson is just a sophomore this season.

Perham’s Adrienne Meyer, a freshman, also improved to a third place finish overall scoring 34.15.

Lyngaas won the floor exercise with a score of 9.4 leading a five-pack of Lakers who dominated the floor.

Martinson won the beam with a 9.3, followed by Sydney Bahls (9.1), Carly Breitenfeldt (9.1) and Alexis Peichel (8.7) giving Perham four of the top five beam performances. Lyngaas scored a 9.1 to slip into fourth between Breitenfeldt in third and Peichel in fifth.

Laker Alexis Yliniemi won the vault with a 9.45, recording the highest score from the judges of the day.

Seventh-grader Ashley Hokanson, in her first meet, and Martinson (9.05) were Perham’s top vaulters in third and fourth place, respectively. Peichel finished fifth with a score of 8.7. Hokanson put up Perham’s best vault score with a 9.1.

Breitenfeldt was in typical form winning the uneven bars with a score of 9.3. Carly was an all-state honorable mention performer on bars at last year’s state meet. Martinson, Lyngaas and Peicher placed second through fourth.

Martinson and Meyer were the only two Perham gymnasts to score on all four events.

Perham split the four apparati with Detroit Lakes.

Perham outscored DL 36.2 - 33.7 on beam and on bars 35.3 - 33.05. The Lakers bested Perham on vault 35.9 - 35.5 and on floor 36.7 - 34.95.
