PERHAM — The Perham Yellowjackets broke open a close game early with a 17-0 run holding Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton scoreless for 11 minutes in the first half en route to a 64-42 Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys basketball victory Monday evening.


Perham picked apart the Rebels’ half-court zone from outside in the first half.

Nick Bahls, Eli Beachy and Sam Willenbring all hit from behind the arc to loosen up the zone. Bahls scored all 10 of his points in the first half.

D-G-F led 12-11 on two free throws by Brock Stalboerger with 12:00 remaining in the first half. The Rebels were held off the scoreboard until the 1:02 mark.

D-G-F trailed Perham led 31-15 at halftime.

Hunter Salathe scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the second half and Sam Muer scored 12 points to lead Perham as both players found room slashing through the Rebels’ zone defense in the second half.

Willenbring hit his second three-pointer of the game with 6:42 remaining in the game to put Perham ahead by 20 points 50-30.

As a team, Perham was 7-15 from behind the arc. Willenbring, Beachy, and Bahls each had a pair. Salathe also sank a three-pointer and led the team with six rebounds.

From the field, Perham shot 53 percent and 11-17 from the free throw line.

Perham improves to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the HOL. D-G-F falls to 5-8 and 2-4 in conference play.

The Perham junior varsity and C-teams made it a sweep winning both of their games.

The junior varsity defeated D-G-F 66-49 improving the Jackets' record to an impressive 13-2. Christian Weis scored a team-high 20 points.

The C-team is on a similar path with a record of 11-3 after a 49-44 victory over the Rebels. Perham scored 10 points in the final 66 seconds to seal the victory. Austin King scored 17 to lead Perham. The C-team is on an eight game winning streak.
