Perham woman and child escape train accident unscathed
A 23-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child escaped with minor injuries after their vehicle was struck by a train Sunday afternoon in Richville.
Ashley Gordon of Perham was traveling northbound on South Marion Drive, when she crossed the tracks and was hit on the front left side of her 1998 Dodge Ram, causing the pickup truck to roll and land on its roof in the ditch, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.
Gordon sustained minor bruising from her seatbelt, while her daughter, who was in a child restraint, was not injured.
Gordon told authorities she had stopped at the crossing, which does not have arms or lights, and did not see the train until she was on the tracks. The crossing did have a stop sign and crossbucks, according to the report.
The accident is under investigation.
