Personal finance workshop aimed at women
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is setting aside time for a workshop designed entirely for women.
The intent of the Real Money Talk for Women is to empower women with the education they need to make decisions regarding their finances, said Thrivent Financial Associate Jean Hallberg.
Sheri Cooper, a Thrivent Financial Managing Partner, will travel from Fargo to lead the presentation, which will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at Thumper Pond in Ottertail.
The free event is open to everyone, including those without Thrivent memberships.
The morning will kick off with a complimentary brunch, followed by Cooper's presentation.
Hallberg said the discussion will focus on generic products found in the financial world, life insurance, retirement products and the different between Roth IRAs and traditional IRAs. Estate planning is also on the docket, including how one can plan to pass assets to family or charitable causes.
"We want to make sure women have a better grasp of understanding (these financial products)," Hallberg said.
Hallberg said topics will be relevant for those planning for retirement just around the corner or quite a ways down the road.
"Our goal is to educate women so they can take that information and apply it to where they are financially," Hallberg said.
The event is open to women of all ages and will include free childcare in the Thumper Pond water park.
"Come with your girlfriend or come by yourself and take your kids to the water park," she said.
While the event comes at no cost to those who attend, registration is necessary.
The deadline for registration is March 23. To save a spot, contact Hallberg at 218-346-5073 or jean.hallberg@ thrivent.com.
