PHS Girls Basketball: Perham holds on for win against WCA
Perham and West Central Area went back and forth all night Tuesday at Prairie Wind Gymnasium in the Jackets final conference home game. Perham made just enough free throws down the stretch to hold on for a 56-54 win.
The Jackets took their two-point lead after a free throw with 15 seconds left to play. Perham's defense forced the Knights into a tough shot, which they rebounded and almost put back to tie the game, but it rolled off
"Another hard fought game with WCA. It seems like it is every time with them," Gullingsrud said. "We would get up by five or six, only to see them come right back and take a lead or tie it up.
"We didn't make all of our free throws down the stretch, " Gullingsrud added. "But we made enough of them to hang on."
WCA also gave the Lady Jackets a scare on Jan. 8, but Perham prevailed, 72-68. They have now won five straight over the Knights.
Autograph night Feb. 25
The Jackets will have a busy week to finish off their regular season. They will finish off their home stand tonight (Feb. 18) against Detroit Lakes.
