PHS Girls Golf: Jackets 7th at S-M; 3rd at Pelican Rapids

The Perham girls golf team finally opened their season Saturday at The Legacy G.C. in Staples at the Cardinal Invitational.

The Lady Jackets finished seventh overall with a score of 416. Pequot Lakes won the team title with a 380. Kelli Hanson of Albert Lea earned medalist honors with a 83.

Holly Karkela led the Lady Jackets with a 90. Kaylan Huber shot a 97.

3rd at Pelican Rapids

Sophomore Holly Karkela shot a 86, good for fifth place as the Lady Jackets finished third at the Pelican Rapids Invitational on Tuesday at Wildflower G.C. Perham finished with a team score of 391. Detroit Lakes took first with a team score of 349. East Grand Forks was second with a 366.


The Jackets will kick-off the Heart O' Lakes Conference schedule at Hawley today (April 23). Action begins at 5 p.m. The Perham girls are the two-time defending conference champs.

The Lady Jackets will head south to play at Tipsinah Mounds in the HOL at West Central Area on April 28. Perham will then go east on April 30 for the 18-hole Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational at Whitetail Run G.C. starting at 3 p.m.
