High School Principal John Rutten outlined a number of important dates and activities.

No schedules mailed this year

Those in need of reviewing their schedule, call 346-1501. Kim Anderson will schedule those appointments August 21-29. If she does not answer, please leave a voicemail. No schedules will be mailed this year. Look for your schedule online at http://www.perham.k12.mn.us/phs/.

For academic, attendance, and safety reasons, 9th and 10th graders have "closed lunch." Parents are urged not to call the school and ask that your son or daughter be allowed to leave campus.

Students may leave for lunch if they are picked up at the main office. Juniors and seniors continue to have the privilege of open lunch--with good behavior and attendance.

Students urged to carpool

Parking continues to be an issue at PHS. There are limited spots available. Students should be aware that PHS lies in a residential neighborhood and many young children are near. Students need to be respectful of the streets and keep streets clean. Carpooling is recommended.

New teachers

There are several new teachers at PHS this fall. They include: Aileen Pierce, HS Spanish; Wayne Werner, special education; and Angie Schreader, Student Outreach provider.

School start, finish times

School will start at 8:25, and will end at 3:22. The school buses will depart from the high school parking lot at 3:27.

Valuables are best left at home. We encourage you to bring a padlock for security of items in your locker.

The Internet Student Information System (called ISIS) is a great way for parents and students to track academic progress by viewing this web-based grade book at anytime. Please take the time to visit the High School's Web page at http://www.perham.k12.mn.us/phs/. If you do not have an account, sign up through the office.

High school open house Aug. 26

Perham High School Open House will be held on August 26, from 4:00 - 6:00, at PHS. Students will have an opportunity to tour the building, meet new friends, and introduce themselves to the staff.

Free and reduced forms are available for meals. School officials ask that parents fill out this form and return it, regardless of whether students eat hot lunch or not. All information is confidential and families can decide whether or not to accept free or reduced lunch options upon qualifying. Much grant funding is based on free and reduced rate meals.

Freshmen welcomed

Freshman orientation is August 20, from 8:30-11:30 in the PHS Auditorium. Lunch is served after the presentations.

For more information, contact the office at 346-1501.

'Challenge Cup' party Aug. 29

A "Challenge Cup Celebration," in honor of Perham-Dent winning the statewide title, is scheduled for August 29, at 5 p.m.

The event is at the tennis courts, prior to the home football opener. Food, games, and entertainment will be featured.
