PHS scholarship winners honored
Students, parents and community members gathered in the Perham High School auditorium for the 28th Community Scholarship Awards Program on May 7.
In all, 155 scholarships were awarded to students, from 39 sponsor groups. Some students received more than one award.
Two new scholarships were available to Perham students this year through the Fergus Falls Birak Shrine Club and York Rite Masons. Ken Friese, who presented the two awards, said the decision to reach out to PHS students was a response to the Perham community’s generosity for the clubs’ causes.
“We believe in all of you,” Sandra Wieser-Matthews reminded the entire graduating class as she presented the PHS Faculty Scholarship.
Daryl Trites, who presented on behalf of the Dent Lions Club, might have best summed up the day’s sentiments when he said, “We want you to know we’re proud of you. Best of luck to all of you, and happy trails.”
A complete list of scholarship winners and sponsor groups will be inserted in next week’s Perham Focus, inside our annual Graduation Magazine.
