PHS Tennis: Lakers win close match over Perham

The Yellowjacket tennis team came close, but wasn't able to pick up their first win of the season as they lost to Detroit Lakes, 4-3.

Perham did take two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Whitney Delaney and Emily Wurgler won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. The No. 3 team of Ashley Silbernagel and Paige Biegler also won in two sets, 6-3, 6-4.

The Jackets lone singles win came at the No. 3 where Hannah Brenk won, 7-6, 6-4.

D.L. also won the earlier match between the two teams in the season opener on Aug. 27, 4-3.

Perham will remain at home on Monday, Sept. 28 as they host New York Mills. Mills (4-8) beat the Jackets on Sept. 1, 4-3.

They will play on back-to-back nights on Sept. 29 as they head east to take on Wadena-Deer Creek.
