PHS Volleyball: Jackets fall at Breckenridge

Email

One of Perham's longest winning streaks came to an end Tuesday with a 3-2 loss at Breckenridge (18-25, 25-12, 14-25, 25-18, 15-10).

Perham was 9-0 over the Cowgirls since 2000, not losing a single set, beating them by a combined score of 27-0 over that span.

"We had 26 hitting errors and 10 missed serves," Christenson said. "That kind of tells the story of our poor showing."

"When you give a team a whole set of unforced errors, it makes it tough to get a victory," Christenson said. "This group played well and was confident when Elisa was in the front row, unfortunately, she couldn't stay there all the time. The team couldn't step up in the absence of team kill leader Katrina Moenkedick (sick). We couldn't play while ahead and couldn't play while behind. It was a frustrating match to watch. Adjustments will come in practice tomorrow."

Home stand

The 'Battle of the Bees' tonight (Oct. 8), which is also a Breast Cancer Awareness Night (see related story), against Frazee opens a long home stand for the Jackets.

On Oct. 10, they will host the annual Perham Invitational. Teams scheduled to participate include: Roseau, Staples-Motley, Fosston, Underwood, Warroad, East Grand Forks, Sauk Centre, Holy Family Catholic, Melrose, Lake of the Woods, Thief River Falls, D-G-F, Hawley, Climax-Fisher and Clearbrook-Gonvik.

First round games start at 8:30 a.m. at Prairie Wind Gymnasium and at the PACC. Place games are scheduled to start at 3:430 p.m. with the championship scheduled for 4:45 p.m.

Perham's first round game will be at 9:45 a.m. against Fosston at Prairie Wind Gymnasium.

The homestand continues next week when the Jackets host Barnesville at Prairie Wind Gymnasium on Oct. 13. The final HOL game, and the home finale, will be Oct. 20 against Hawley.
