Home loss to Spuds
The Jackets had a nice come-from-behind win in the first set against Moorhead Tuesday night at Prairie Wind Gymnasium, but they lost steam from there, falling to the Spuds, 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-16, 25-8).
Perham trailed the first set, 23-17, when they reeled off seven-straight points off the service game of Kelli Meehl. A kill by Lexy Karvonen and a tip by Elisa Moenkedick gave the Jackets a 26-24 win.
Moorhead came back to take the next two sets, 25-20, and 25-16, then jumped out to a 11-0 lead in the fourth set before closing out the match, 25-8.
"I loved the energy of tonights match - the girls, the crowd, everything," head coach Dan Christenson said. "This was exciting Minnesota volleyball. Long rallies provided the excitement for the Perham-Moorhead fans tonight."
8AA champs ahead
Perham will return to HOL action tonight (Sept. 17) when they host Lake Park-Audubon. The Jackets have won the last two against the Raiders and nine of the last 10.
On Sept. 22, Perham will head east to take on No. 9-AA Wadena-Deer Creek. W-DC ended the Jackets season last year in the 8AA sub-section title match, 3-2. W-DC went on to win the 8AA crown to advance to State.
