Perham returned to Heart O' Lakes Conference action Thursday with a 3-0 win over Lake Park-Audubon. Late set rallies in all three sets led the Jackets to the win that was closer than the 3-0 score indicates (25-18, 25-21, 25-19).

"That's a nice, veteran LP-A team," head coach Dan Christenson said. "I was happy with the way our kids stepped up late in each set to get the win. They were able to maintain their enthusiasm. I think they had a little drop off against Moorhead as the match went on. I think tonight they kept their focus and picked everything up."

After the 25-18 win in the first set, set two was tied 16-16 when the Raiders surged ahead to 20-18. Perham was able to score six-straight to go up 24-20. They won, 25-21 on a missed LP-A serve.

Becky Stoll's service game got Perham out to an early 6-1 lead in the third set, but LP-A hung tough and eventually closed the gap to 17-15. Mary Guck stepped to the service line and helped Perham secure the win with six-straight points.

"It was another long rally night in the PWMS gym," Christenson said. "Diggers Becky Stoll, Kelli Meehl, and Katrina Moenkedick held LP-A's outstanding outside hitter, Christine McIntire in check."

Elisa Moenkedick had a break out match, totalling eight kills, three aces, and two blocks. Lexy Karvonen, Katrina Moenkedick, and Stoll also had seven kills, all career highs for the triad of sophomores.

"It was big for us to have Elisa have a big night at the net," Christenson said. "It was a good confidence builder for her. We're not a team that will get a ton of points at the net. We're going to grind it out, play long rallies and find our spots. When Elisa can start leading us at the net, we'll be even stronger."

The Jackets have now won their last three against the Raiders and 10 of the last 11.

On Sept. 22, Perham (4-5, 2-0 HOL) will head east to take on No. 9-AA Wadena-Deer Creek. W-DC ended the Jackets season last year in the 8AA sub-section title match, 3-2. W-DC went on to win the 8AA crown to advance to State.
