‘Prairie Spy’ up for Midwest Book Award
“The Prairie Spy: Who Shot the Dryer? And Other Stories from the Home Front,” by New York Mills author Alan Linda, is a finalist for the Midwest Book Awards in the Humor category.
The awards are sponsored by the Midwest Independent Publishers Association, made up of publishers from 12 Midwestern states. The association provides judges who are experts in specific fields and/or genres of writing and design.
Linda has been writing his newspaper column, “The Prairie Spy” for more than 25 years. The column regularly appears in the Perham Focus.
The collection in Linda’s book ranges from humorous dialogues with talking appliances to poignant tales of his time in Vietnam. His look at small-town life includes humor in everyday living.
Linda showcased his book to booksellers at the Heartland Fall Forum last October, and will participate in the Midwest Book Awards Celebration on May 8 at the Bloomington Center for the Arts.
