This year's recipient is 4th grade teacher Matt Radniecki.

The anonymous nomination letter read: "I would like to nominate Matt as Teacher of the Year. He displays great compassion in his teaching. The students walking out of his classroom always have a big smile. Each student is taught as an individual whether they are students at the top of the class or those with needs. Matt gives them his tender heart when they need understanding. He also has expectations for the rules to be followed consistently in his classroom and the school. Matt wants his students to understand that education needs to be respected by students, their parents, and the community."

Radniecki was credited in the nomination letter as having a passion for teaching that goes beyond his students onto his colleagues, and his role as head of negotiations is something he has taken very seriously as a professional.

"Matt has made himself extremely approachable to all of us. He always makes certain that both sides of the issue or issues are presented to his colleagues. Matt is dedicated to both his students and the teachers of New York Mills," the nomination letter read.
