The Perham girls basketball team (18-5, 11-3) dropped their third game out of the last five at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (11-11, 6-7). The Rebels shot 50 percent from the floor aiding them to a 56-48 victory.

"We were unable to shoot the ball very well against their zone defense and that ultimately cost us the game," Head Coach John Gullingsrud said.

The Yellowjackets were without the services of Katrina Moenkedick, who missed the game due to illness, and her typical double digit scoring performance was missed.

"We were hoping some other very capable players would step up in her absence," Gullingsrud said.

Kaylan Huber stepped up scoring 18 points. DGF's Kim Brinkman led all scorers with 19.

Moenkedick's absence was notice most where she makes a living on the court, down low. The Rebels outscored Perham 34-14 on points in the paint.

Perham outrebounded DGF 26-22, had four less turnovers, 11-15, and the bench outscored the Rebel reserves 15-4.

But shooting 16-65 from the field, 24.6 percent, was ultimately the difference in the final score.

"We have really struggled the past couple of weeks and are hoping that the girls can refocus and get back to playing our style of basketball once the playoffs start."

Steph Miller and Lexy Karvonen each had nine points. Becky Stoll and Miranda Lockhart scored six each.

Perham's loss clinches the Heart O' Lakes Conference title for the Hawley Nuggets (18-4, 12-1), as they have now won back-to-back conference titles.

Last year, Perham finished second in the conference to the Nuggets with a record of 15-3. Hawley was an undefeated 18-0 last season.

The final regular season matchup with New York Mills has been canceled, due to a play-in playoff game scheduled for the NY Mills Eagles Monday, Feb. 28.

The Jackets will host a playoff game. Section playoffs are scheduled to begin March 3.
