Region 16C: Midway claims state berth, awaits challenger in Region title game
PERHAM - Krueger Field is the site of the Region 16C tournament where the Midway Snurdbirds have already earned a trip back to the state tournament.
Midway defeated the Fergus Falls Hurricanes 4-2 and Brandon-Evansville Bluedogs 10-5 to advance to Sunday's title game, which will be played at 1:30 p.m.
Midway was behind 5-4 against the Bluedogs going into the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Snurdbirds fired up a six-run rally to take the lead and the victory.

"We are lucky to have the depth, talent, (and personality) throughout the team, and we can't have that without everybody showing up so hats off to the entire team. We also had nice fan support this weekend, every person helps get the 'Birds fired up so we appreciate the support."
Centerfielder Zach Etter was 4-5 with two runs scored and two RBI to lead Midway.
Steve Wetterling, Robert Weaver and Drew Rasmussen had two hits each.
Brad Lusti picked up the victory pitching five innings of relief.
The Region 16C championship game will be played on Sunday, Aug. 12 in Perham at 1:30 p.m.
Brandon-Evansville awaits the winner of Fergus Falls and Osakis.
Both of those games will be played Saturday, Aug. 11 in Perham with scheduled times of 5 and 8 p.m.
Osakis and the BlueDogs represent the Resorters West League.
Midway and Fergus Falls are the top seeds from the Lake and Pine League and Countryside, respectively.
The state tournament will be played in St. Cloud this year.
