Registration still open for Turtle Fest parade
Space is still available for groups that want to take part in the Grand Parade of this year's Turtle Fest, which will march down the streets of Perham starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 24.
According to organizer Tyler Krumwiede, parade entrants include the North Dakota National Guard Marching Band, the Minnesota Vikings Skol Band, the New York Mills High School Marching Band, Shriners, three different drumlines, the Highlanders of the North Bagpipe band, Miss Minnesota and many more. Krumwiede is hoping to have 120 entrants by June 24.
Politicians and community groups will also be participating in the parade.
Community groups, civic organizations or even sports teams are all free to register, Krumwiede said. The deadline to register is Friday, June 3.
Parade entrants will line up at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening, and the parade will begin at 7 p.m. The parade will start at Fifth Street and Second Avenue SW, will progress down Second Avenue, turn left up Second Street, turn left at Fifth Avenue, turn right on Third Street, turn left on Eighth Avenue, then finish near the hospital.
