Richville man dies New Year's Eve

A 28-year-old Richville man died Thursday of accidental asphyxiation, the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office announced Saturday.

The man was identified as Kelly Joe Sazama. Emergency responders found him New Year's Eve, lying unconscious and not breathing on the floor of a shed, where he had been working on a vehicle.


Sazama was taken by ambulance to Perham Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later pronounced dead after attempts to revive him failed.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 in Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 in United Methodist Church, Richville.
