Rising water levels create better shore-fishing opportunities
Walleyes are hitting minnows in eight to 20 feet at Otter Tail Lake, Clitherall Lake, and West Battle Lake and in 15 feet at Mollie Stark Lake. Work the 15- to 17-foot weedlines with sucker minnows for pike at Otter Tail, West Battle, and South Turtle Lake. Suckers and bucktails continue to trigger muskies in 15 feet at West Battle. Bass action is strong on the shorelines of Mollie Stark, South Turtle, Fiske Lake, and Stalker Lake. PARK RAPIDS AREA
Expect walleyes to hit minnows at Fish Hook Lake in 20 to 22 feet. Crankbaits are working best for northern pike at Long Lake in 14 feet. Spinnerbaits are turning numbers of bass in shallow water at Big Mantrap Lake and Portage Lake is a safe option for bluegills in eight to 10 feet. There seems to be grouse in the area, but thick cover has limited hunter success.
