Robert "Bob" Wendt, 76, of Clitherall, Minn., died on Aug. 8, 2014, surrounded by family and under the care of Lakeland Hospice at his residence, Mary's Place in Clitherall.

Robert was born Nov. 10, 1937, in Pipestone, Minn., one of six children to Reinhold and Erna Ann (Peterson) Wendt. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran church. Bob graduated from Perham High School.

After high school he entered the U.S. Army Reserve. He went on to work in his chosen field of masonry in Minneapolis, Fargo and various areas where he was a wonderful brick layer and stone mason. Bob did all of the stone work on the Perham Public Library and on many beautiful homes around the area. In his late 40s, he made a commitment to Christ and remained alcohol-free for the remainder of his life. He became a CD counselor for years, first in Fergus Falls, Minn., then in Zombrota, Minn.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially in the pursuit of whitetail deer and ducks. Bob loved to listen and dance to old time music and play his guitar and accordion with his brother, Dick, and friends.

Preceding him in death are his father, Reinhold "Ray"; a sister, Joyce Collins; a brother, Dick Wendt; and a nephew, Michael Hahn.

His family includes his mother, Erna, of Dent who currently resides at the "Lydia House" in Fergus Falls; seven children: Mark (Karen) Wendt, Brian Wendt, Lisa (Bob) Jensen, Shelly Kroshus, Carmen Wendt, Kevin Wendt and Keith Wendt; three sisters: Jean Hahn of Staples, Minn., Karen (Jake) Beringer of Ellendale, N.D., and Linda (Dennis) Reich of Fergus Falls; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m., at the Boschert-Norman Funeral Home of Fergus Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
