Robert L. Brolin, 88, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in a motor vehicle accident with his daughter, Gail Paulson, that occurred near Detroit Lakes.
Robert L. Brolin was born to Oscar and Mildred (Shores) Brolin on April 29, 1920 in Williams, Minn. The family moved to rural Detroit Lakes, where Robert grew up and attended country school. On May 5, 1940 he married Ariel DeWitt. They made their home near Lake Melissa, in rural Detroit Lakes. Bob worked for Snappy's in Detroit Lakes for many years.
Bob loved the outdoors, mowing his lawn, and playing golf and pool. He also liked to read western books. He truly loved time spent with his granddaughter, Michele Palbicki, and great granddaughter Alexandra.
Surviving Robert are his granddaughter and great granddaughter; one brother, Frank Brolin of Detroit Lakes; and son-in-law Dan Paulson, also of Detroit Lakes.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Ariel (Oct. 29, 2002); and a sister; Christine Lee.
A memorial service was scheduled for 2 p.m. today (Sunday) at the First Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes, with visitation to take place for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes is providing arrangements.
