Rodeo fans in for 'Rough Ride' this weekend
Each year New York Mills is asked the same question: "Are you rough and tough enough?" This weekend cowboys and cowgirls from around the region will have the answer.
The Rough Ride Rodeo takes place this Friday and Saturday, 6:30 p.m. both nights, one mile east of town at the airport.
There's still time to pick up tickets in advance at the reduced rate. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Children 5 and under get in free. Tickets are on sale in Mills at the Cenex C-Store, Mills Lanes, Heart of the Lakes Credit, and Farmers & Merchants State Bank.
In Wadena, tickets can be purchased at Mid Central Savings and Loan, and Sundby Trailer Sales. In Perham, tickets are being sold at Main Street Express, and the Country Store. Bluffton Oil is also selling tickets, as well as Marv's in Sebeka, Deer Creek Oil, and Oasis in Ottertail.
The Rough Ride features all the rodeo favorites like bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc, calf roping, team roping, bareback riding, breakaway roping, and steer wrestling.
Kids events include pony rides and mutton busting.
Drawings for $100 in Mills Marks will take place each performance, as well as one girls and one boys bike to be given away each night.
The MRA-sanctioned Rough Ride Rodeo is brought to Mills by Triple B Rodeo Company and located at the NYM Municipal Airport, one mile east of town on Highway 10. Food and beer vendors will be on site to offer a variety of meals and beverages.
The event is sponsored by the NYM Civic & Commerce Association.
