Memorial services for Roger Robb, age 85, of Industry, Illinois, will be held at a later date. He passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was enroute to a grandson's wedding in Texas.
Roger William Robb was born in Compton Township in 1924 to William and Ella (Kautz) Robb. He graduated from Wadena High School in 1941 and attended Bemidji State University before entering the United States Navy in 1943. He was commissioned as a Naval Aviator in 1944 and served on the USS Raleigh. Roger retired from the United States Navy on July 1, 1964 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Roger was united in marriage to Francis Barmus on June 8, 1946 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After retiring from the United States Navy he returned to completing education in mathematics at the University of Scranton. He taught in several High Schools in Pennsylvania, before buying a farm in the New York Mills, Minnesota area. On January 2, 2003, he was united in marriage to Ila Stinar and since that time he has spent time in New York Mills and in Industry, Illinois. Preceding Roger in death are his parents; a brother and his wife, Clyde and Francis Robb.
Roger is survived by his wife, Ila of Industry, Illinois; 3 sons: Randolph W. Robb of San Rafael, California; Roger II W. Robb and Richard W. Robb both of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; a brother, Thomas (Phyl) Robb of Isle; 3 sisters: Marjorie Robb of New York Mills; Marion Horstmon of Port Angeles, Washington; and Lou (Howard) Legried of New York Mills; 4 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
