Sept. 12, 1939-July 6, 2008
Roger O. Sexton, 68, of Detroit Lakes, died at his home on Sunday morning, July 6, 2008 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Roger Sexton was born the son of Lloyd and Pearl (Bakke) Sexton on Sept. 12, 1939 in Osage. He was educated in the Osage-Park Rapids area, graduating in 1957 from Park Rapids High School. He married Audrey Shores of Hubbard, Minn., in 1961 and they relocated to Detroit Lakes. The couple had two daughters, Brenda and Lanita Sexton. Audrey died on Jan. 7, 1989.
Roger married Ranae Siekas of Detroit Lakes on July 19, 1997. They also made their home in Detroit Lakes.
Roger was employed by Qwest Communications (Bell Telephone) for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He had been driving part time for Becker County Transit for the past three years.
Roger enjoyed his family, friends, his church community, and his time at the lake fishing and watching the wildlife.
Surviving Roger are his wife, Ranae Sexton of Detroit Lakes; two daughters, Brenda and Lanita Sexton, both of Nashville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Holly (Roger) Lester of Burnsville, Minn., and April (Peter) Bakke of Boyceville, Wis.; two stepsons, Wade (Aida) Paulson of Superior, Wis., and Troy (Sherri) Siekas of Watertown, Minn.; and nine grandchildren.
His parents and first wife, Audrey, preceded Roger in death.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Grace Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with interment following at the Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard.
