Santa Anonymous enters its 30th year
Looking for a meaningful way to celebrate Christmas this year?
Make this an extra special holiday season – both for your family and for someone else’s – by ‘adopting’ a family through Santa Anonymous.
This is the 30th year of the Santa Anonymous program in the New York Mills area. The program has made Christmas brighter for more than 200 children.
Participants simply choose a local family in need to ‘adopt’ for the holiday, purchase appropriate gifts for them, and drop the gifts off at a donation box.
The identities of families and donors are not revealed to one another.
Organizers say the need is great, and help is greatly appreciated.
New gifts for children from infancy to 18 years of age are needed, especially for teenagers. Monetary donations may be sent to Kay Tougas at 111 N. Broadway in New York Mills or deposited directly into the Santa Anonymous account at F and M Bank.
Donation boxes will be placed in the following locations on Monday, Nov. 18: Cenex C-store, Credit Union, Dean’s Country Market, Seip Drug, Hardware Hank, Mills Lanes, NYM Public Library, F and M Bank and the NYM Post Office. Various churches may also have collection boxes.
Gifts will be collected from the boxes on Friday, Dec. 13 and wrapped on Monday, Dec. 16 at the county office building in New York Mills. Wrapping will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and again from 3:30-6 p.m.
To help wrap or to adopt a family, call 218-640-3254. All details will be kept confidential.
