Nearly 40 Perham area businesses and civic organizations awarded scholarships to Perham High School students at the 27th Community Scholarship and Grant Program.
The program, which was held in the school’s auditorium last Wednesday in front of the junior and senior classes, saw scholarships awarded to roughly 80 students, some of whom received more than one award.
The assembly featured short speeches by school principal Ehren Zimmerman and KLN Family Brands President Kenny Nelson.
“This has been a long-running program that we’ve had for students,” said school counselor Jan Turgeon of the scholarship program. “The only reason we’re able to do it for students is because the community is so supportive of our graduates and encouraging of them to continue their education beyond PHS.”
Organizations providing scholarships included KLN, the Perham Jaycees, local Rotary and Lions clubs, veterans groups, Bremer Bank, Spanky’s Stone Hearth, First National Bank, the Perham Sportsman’s Club, Perham Health and more.
