School district, PACC approve contract
The Perham Area Community Center and Perham-Dent School District have approved a new three-year contract for their partnership.
The contract will be good through June 30, 2017.
Under the agreement, the district will pay the PACC $10,267 per month for 2014. In 2015 and 2016, the amount will be $10,994 and $11,210, respectively.
Both the PACC and school district will set aside matching funds over the life of the contract to fund future capital improvements. In 2014, the two entities will contribute $15,000, with the amount increasing by $1,000 for each of the following years. The district’s portion will be deducted from its monthly payment.
Areas and equipment covered under the agreement include the PACC’s multi-purpose room, up to half of the cardio equipment, youth gym, main swimming pool, racquetball courts, field house, weightlifting area, warm-up room and meeting rooms. Public areas such as the locker rooms are also included “when mutually agreeable.”
School classes will have priority in these areas during weekdays while school is in session, and during the high school league year, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Use of other areas by the school, such as the walking track, water features and aerobic room, must first be approved by the PACC.
An automatic renewal clause was removed from the previous contract language. Previously, written notice of intent not to renew the existing agreement was required six months before the expiration date from either side.
