Schwieger Computers opens in Perham
Computer problems have been known to bug, but the owner of a new Perham business is there to de-bug.
Technology can cause a headache or two, but Tom Schwieger, CEO and consultant for Schwieger Computers hopes to help area residents and businesses alleviate any and all computer issues.
Schweiger is not new to the area. He has owned a cabin on Star Lake for 15 years and recently moved back to the area full time from Marshall, Minn. He holds degrees in business, accounting and computer science. He ran Schweiger Computers for the last 10 years in Marshall.
The new shop, located in the Blue Sky building, includes a retail area where Schwieger sells Dell desktop computers, laptop computers, flat panel monitors, printers and ink.
As for services, Schweiger's expertise is networking, but he also fixes computers, removes viruses, reduces unwanted pop-ups, removes unwanted programs, helps optimize the speed of systems and much more. He also can help clients learn how to use programs such as Microsoft.
"It's a full-service, one stop shop," Schwieger said.
Schwieger will be selling computer supplies and hopes to work with other businesses in Perham.
"I don't want to take away from other businesses," he said. "I want to work with other people. Being in a small town, that's what you have to do to keep the town positive."
He sells Dell computers, as it has shown to be a good brand in the past.
"I haven't had any problems with Dell," he said. "Experience tells me that I haven't had problems with them, so that's what I sell."
For now, it's just him, but once Schwieger acquires more business clients, he plans to hire additional staff.
As for individual clients, he is staying flexible to work around people's busy schedules. He plans to be in the office at 7:30 a.m. on Thursdays so people can drop off their computer to be fixed before work and hopefully pick it up on the way home.
"I will do everything I can to have them done when they go home," he said.
He also will go to homes to fix computers on site, if needed.
As part of his grand opening during the week of Dec. 13-17, the public can come into the office and register for a free Dell computer that Schwieger will be giving away.
