Section 8AA Girls Basketball Playoff Matchup
#6 Crosby Ironton (17-9) at #3 Perham (18-5)
Perham won the only meeting between the two schools 70-59, on the road, December 9.
Katrina Moenkedick had 20 points and six rebounds. Kaylan Huber added 16 points. Becky Stoll scored 10.
Jana Anderson led the Rangers with 19 points. Missy Foote and Chelsea Bonsante each scored 14.
Both clubs are 6-4 in their last 10 games. Crosby-Ironton is 7-4 on the road. Perham is 7-2 at home.
Perham averages 58.2 points per game while giving up 48.6. Crosby-Ironton has similar numbers of 52.8 and 43.0.
Crosby-Ironton is coming off a victory in their last game at Aitkin, 43-23. The Rangers longest winning streak was in late December when they won five in a row. Their streak was snapped by Sauk Centre at the Pierz Holiday Tournament, 63-44.
Perham lost their last game, 56-48, at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. Their longest streak of the year was a 9-0 start to the season. Their streak was broken at Pequot Lakes 63-37. Pequot Lakes is the #1 seed in the south half of the section draw. The Patriots are 24-1 and ranked 7th in class AA. Their only loss came in overtime at home to Wadena-Deer Creek.
Tonight's winner will take on the victor between #2 Hawley (20-4), who hosts #7 Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (12-12).
Should the Yellowjackets prevail, they will face a team that gave them one of their only five losses of the season. Perham would travel to Hawley or host DGF. Hawley outscored DGF 109-77, sweeping both games from the Rebels.
The #2 Nuggets and #3 Yellowjackets split their season series, each winning on the road.
The #7 Rebels and #3 Yellowjackets split, also, each winning on their home floors by an eight-point margin in both games.
The quarterfinal game will be played at the higher seed Saturday, Mar. 5, at 7 p.m.
