Sen. Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, is serving his second term in the Minnesota Senate. The Legislator of Distinction Award is given to legislators who played key roles in advancing the coalition's policy during the preceding session.

As chair of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee, Ingebrigtsen guided many of the coalition's environmental priorities to enactment, including the modification of the water conservation rate requirement and combating the spread of invasive species.

While leading the conference committee negotiations on the Legacy Bill, Ingebrigtsen worked to remove local match and project cap requirements that were placed upon greater Minnesota, but not metropolitan area, projects.

"Sen. Ingebrigtsen has been a strong and consistent advocate for environmental policies that benefit greater Minnesota," said the coalition's President, Alan Oberloh, Mayor of Worthington. "Despite stiff opposition from metro legislators and House leadership, he ensured that greater Minnesota parks and trails would be treated fairly when seeking Legacy funding.  Our communities are thankful for his effective leadership on environmental issues."

The coalition is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization representing 80 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It educates legislators about issues important to greater Minnesota.
