Senior Baseball: Silver Pirates start season with 11-0 win
Steve Sheets provided all the offense the Silver Pirates needed as they opened the 2009 Senior Men's Baseball campaign with an 11-0 victory over the visiting Fergus Falls Ancients on Saturday evening at Krueger Field.
Sheets had a pair of doubles, a single and four RBI's to lead the Perham offensive attack to give Jon Kotaska his first mound victory as a Silver Pirate.
Kotaska threw a neat, three-hit, five-inning shutout. He started a pair of double plays and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.
Brad Kempe also picked up a pair of hits and an RBI as the Silver Pirates collected 11 hits in the five-inning shortened contest
Mollins, Nelson, Lackey and Miller added solo hits for Perham.
A pair of sparkling defensive plays were turned in by catcher, Jim Nelson and first bagger, Jim Belfiori. Two double plays from Kotaska to McClellan to Belfiori picked the team up.
The Silver Pirates go for win number two tonight (June 18) as they host Urbank at Krueger Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m.
