Senior driver safety class to be be offered

The Senior Driver Safety class, offered by Denise Lillis in the Perham area for the last 20 years, has joined forces with some local automotive businesses to help encourage and promote safe, defensive driving.

Senior driver safety class participants receive a 10 percent reduction on their car insurance premiums for three years. This alone is a substantial savings.

Check with your local insurance agent for specific age requirements as they may vary. The United Community Insurance Agency has been a supporter for several years, offering their facility where the classes have been taught. They are expanding the classroom area to allow for a more comfortable setting. Their address is 138 West Main St. Perham.

At the completion of the 4-hour refresher and 8-hour class, participants will receive the following benefits in addition to the 10 percent insurance reduction they already receive. Schmitz Motor Company is offering an additional $300 off on the purchase of any vehicle valued over $5,000.

Hometown Repair will be giving participants a discount on their next oil change. Schmitz Body Paint and Repair has been very generous by providing a complimentary car wash and vacuum to the package.

The following dates have been set for those needing the 4-hour refresher: August 16, 1-5 p.m., August 17, 8:30a.m.-12:30 p.m. and August 18, 5-9 p.m.

An 8-hour class will be held on September 13 and 14 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Classes are offered each month to fit most individual's schedules.
