Sheriff’s office offering Citizens Academy
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting its annual Citizens Academy again this year.
Sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m., April 2 through May 21. The locations of the sessions will be announced at a later date.
All sessions are free for citizens of Otter Tail County.
The academy consists of eight sessions, each of them ranging from 2-1/2 to three hours long. Each session will have representatives from various county departments and specialty units giving presentations.
“People who attended these sessions in prior years said they learned a lot, and were glad they attended,” said Sheriff’s Office Lt. Matt McGuire.
County Sheriff Brian Schlueter said the sheriff’s office is proud of its commitment to work with citizens throughout the county to create a quality of life that everyone can be proud of.
“To do this effectively, it’s important for citizens from throughout Otter Tail County to understand the policies, procedures and protocol of the sheriff’s department,” said Schlueter, “as well as what it’s like to be one of the men and women sworn to protect and serve our county.”
He said it’s equally important for the sheriff’s office to learn more about the concerns and needs of citizens throughout the county.
“The Citizens Academy is a great way for that to happen,” said Schlueter.
