Shooting outside Moorhead bowling alley leads to arrest of Columbia Heights, Minn., man
A Columbia Heights man is accused of assault after a confrontation early today during which someone fired two bullets into the air outside a Moorhead bowling alley, police said.
Officers responded to a disturbance involving the discharge of a firearm at 1:36 a.m. in the Sunset Lanes parking lot at 620 Highway 75 North.
Several uninvited people tried to get into a private party, leading to the confrontation in the parking lot, according to a news release from police.
One of the uninvited people fired two bullets into the air and ran south from the area. A bystander chased the person as officers arrived on scene.
The suspect, Edney Ajuo, 25, was taken into custody and the handgun was recovered, the release stated. Ajuo is being held at the Clay County Jail pending multiple charges, including second-degree assault.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Dilworth and Glyndon police department assisted Moorhead police.
The incident remains under investigation, and there's no immediate concern for public safety, the release stated.
