According to Perham Fire Chief Mark Schmidt, one adult victim was removed from the backseat of a four-door Chrysler sedan using the Jaws of Life. The Perham Police Department said that victim, along with another adult backseat passenger from the same car, were transported from the scene to Perham Health.

Both were believed to have sustained non life-threatening injuries, the Perham Police Department said. Their names are not being released.

No other injuries were reported.

According to police reports, one vehicle, driven by Troy Biegler of Frazee, was westbound on 5th Street NE when it was struck by the other vehicle, driven by Tammi Benson of Battle Lake, traveling south on 3rd Ave NE.

The accident occurred at an uncontrolled intersection.

No citations were given.

Law enforcement said this was the third car accident to occur in Perham in the last week, two of which were at uncontrolled intersections.

Perham Police Chief Jason Hoaby said, "In uncontrolled intersections, slow down, look both ways and proceed if it's safe. Never assume."

State law mandates drivers on the left to yield to drivers on the right in uncontrolled intersections.
