With slick and snowy roads around the Fargo-Moorhead area, local law enforcement agencies have been dealing with a slew of crashes.

The Minnesota State Patrol counted 111 crashes Monday in the west-central and northwest regions. Two of the crashes were fatal, six were rollovers, and 14 left motorists with injuries, patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow said.

One of the fatalities was a 52-year-old Fargo man killed in a collision with a semi that jackknifed on Interstate 94 by St. Cloud. The other fatal crash occurred near Ortonville, Grabow said.

Moorhead Police Lt. Tory Jacobson said his department handled 17 crashes Monday. In Fargo, city police were dispatched to 52 accidents between the peak traffic hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Lt. Joel Vettel said. No injuries were reported in either city.

Also from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers in the southeast region responded to reports of 26 crashes and 40 vehicles in the ditch. Of the 26 crashes, three resulted in minor injuries, according to the patrol.

Forecasters expect snow to fall through Wednesday, followed by temperatures dipping below zero.
