Small city grant process launched in Perham
The City of Perham is ready to accept applications for funding through the Department of Employment and Economic Development's (DEED) Small Cities Development Program.
Applications will be available on Friday, May 14 from 8 a.m. until noon. Thereafter, commercial property owners, rental property owners, or single--family residential property owners may request applications during normal business hours.
The applications will also be available on the City of Perham website at www.cityofperham.com.
Applications may be returned to City Hall beginning Monday, May 17 at 7:30 a.m. however there will be no funding commitments made until environmental clearance is received from DEED in early June.
SCDP funding will be available for at least eight commercial rehab projects, eight rental rehab projects, and eight owner-occupied residential rehab projects. Since funding is so limited, projects will be funded on a "first come--first serve basis."
For any category if eight applications are received and deemed eligible, all projects will be funded. If more than eight applications are received, applications delivered in person to City Hall will be time and date stamped to determine priority. Priority of multiple applications received in the mail will be determined by a random lottery.
Commercial rehab projects will be eligible for up to $20,000 in SCDP funds which property owners must match dollar for dollar. Rental rehab projects will be eligible for 70 percent of the project up to $10,937, and individual homeowners may qualify for up to $20,000. Homeowners must meet income requirements to qualify for funding.
If you are a contractor who may be working on any of these projects you must complete an application of eligibility. Please call City Hall to receive a Contractor's Application.
To receive a project application or a contractor's application please contact City Hall at 346-4455 or stop by during normal business hours which are Monday--Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. until noon.
