Last weekend, Ottertail hosted the internationally recognized Smokin' Iron Truck and Tractor pull, putting on a show with 45 pullers from Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.

The annual event had high turnout this year, with 1,500 fans watching on Friday and 2,200 on Saturday. These numbers are up from last year.

According to Smokin' Iron committee chairperson, Terry Wagenman, "The fans had a great show." The weekend went remarkably well, even with a breakdown of a sled, Wagenman added, which halted Friday's show for 30 minutes.

Smokin' Iron offered five different categories for contestants to pull in: super farm tractors, two-wheel-drive trucks, four-wheel-drive trucks, unlimited pro stock and pro stock-diesel 4x4s. The furthest pull was 344 feet.
