Softball: Eagles earn shot at consolation championship

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. – New York Mills advanced to the consolation championship at the Minnesota Class 1A state softball tournament Thursday with 4-1 victory over Browerville.

Third baseman Lydia Irons batted 2-for-3 with a run scored to pace the Eagles.

Four players drove in a single run for New York Mills.

The Eagles built a 2-0 lead after the third inning and added on runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
